No gas main? There's £9,000 on the table.
Homes heated by oil or LPG can claim £9,000 towards a heat pump, £1,500 more than everyone else. The extra closes on 31 March 2027.
The offer
£9,000 if you're off the grid. £7,500 if you're not.
The £1,500 difference exists because heating a home without a gas main costs more, and government wants those homes converted first. It is not a permanent rate.

paid to your installer, who applies for it on your behalf. You never handle the claim. Landlords are eligible too.
Who qualifies
It depends what you burn, not where you live
If your boiler runs on heating oil or LPG, you have no gas connection and the uplift is meant for you. That's 814,824 homes across England and Wales.
Electric heating is the awkward case. An electrically heated flat is technically off the gas grid, but if there's a gas main in the street it usually won't qualify. We count it separately rather than folding it in to make the number look bigger.
Your installer has to be MCS-certified, and they make the application. If an installer asks you to apply yourself, something is wrong.
